Tyler realized that chiropractors can be very effective at recognizing skin cancer in their patients early, helping people get treatment faster. Over the years, Chiros Care has funded early detection efforts and donated almost $95,000 for melanoma research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. When the organization first started, most of its donations came from T-shirt sales. In more recent years, a golf tournament – named in honour of Paula Knapp, a friend who passed away from melanoma – has become the organization’s major fundraising effort. “I am one of the lucky ones,” Damen says. “I won the battle against malignant melanoma with the help of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
