TRANSFORMATIONAL EVENTS On November 3rd, 2016, the atrium at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre was transformed into a live broadcast radio hub. With A1 Chinese Radio live on the air, listeners were able to hear from patients, doctors and donors, all eager to share their stories. For program hosts Leslie Yip and Anson Wong, supporting The Princess Margaret has become an annual tradition at the radio station. “All of us at A1 are deeply touched by the courage of patients and want to do BAPS Charities, inspired by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, is a non-profit organization committed to caring for individuals and communities worldwide. When one of its members was treated at The Princess Margaret, BAPS decided to raise money for its research program. “We were touched by the care and warmth shown by the staff and wanted to show our support,” says Haresh Bhatt, President of BAPS Charities. This year, BAPS completed their generous $100,000 pledge commitment in support of Personalized Cancer Medicine. Chinese Community Raises Record Amount During 4th Annual A1 Radiothon BAPS Charities Completes $100,000 Fundraising Goal More than 130 spin participants gathered for the 2nd annual SPIN to Conquer Cancer. The event raised more than $89,000 for cancer research at The Princess Margaret. Wendy Posluns has supported The Princess Margaret for many years as a donor and Board Member. When her future daughter-in-law started a team for SPIN to Conquer Cancer, she decided to join. “I think it’s important to support events like these because of the community aspect. It’s energizing, it’s inspiring and uplifting,” says Posluns. 2nd Annual SPIN to Conquer Cancer Raises $89,000 more for them,” says Yip. Together, A1 Chinese Radio and the Chinese community raised an outstanding total of $121,000.
