TD helps The Princess Margaret attract and recruit top
scientific talent
E
ntire new areas of study like molecular
profiling, immune therapy and
epigenetics have opened up in the last
decade and show great promise in helping
researchers better understand the disease.
New technology such as genetic sequencing
and nanotechnology is also creating new
ways to study cancer and move closer to
treatment that is highly personalized, more
effective and delivers better outcomes.
While these new areas of science and
technology represent great opportunity,
they require highly skilled people who have
studied in these areas and have the expertise
in applying the technology.
A $1 million donation received from TD Bank
Group is earmarked to recruit these highly
sought-after young scientists.
Each year, for the next seven years, the
fund will help recruit and advance the
work of a different young scientist at The
Princess Margaret. In the first year, the fund
is being directed to Dr. Housheng He who
completed his postdoctoral training in
cancer genomics and epigenomics at
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
