The Fitzhenry family honours the woman who was at
its heart
A
ndrée Rhéaume Fitzhenry, born in
Saint-Côme, Quebec, was enjoying
traveling and being a grandmother
to seven grandchildren when, in 2011, she
was diagnosed with lung cancer. In February
2013, she passed away after the cancer
metastasized to her brain.
Dr. Caroline Chung, a radiation oncologist
at The Princess Margaret who specializes in
treating brain metastases, was involved with
Andrée’s care. “About half of the patients I
treat have lung cancer. It is one of the most
aggressive cancers, and often spreads to the
brain,” explains Dr. Chung.
