F
or more than 30 years, Juliana and Johnny Fung
have loved each other in sickness and in health.
While planning their 30
th
wedding anniversary
celebration in August 2014, the couple decided to
honour the happy occasion by expressing gratitude for
overcoming a challenging time in their lives. Ten years
ago, Juliana was diagnosed with leukemia.
“Though leukemia cannot be completely cured, my
condition is fully under control,” says Juliana. “What I
want to say most is thank you to all the medical staff at
The Princess Margaret for the care I received…and for the
support they offered my family during this difficult time.”
At the celebration, Juliana and Johnny asked their
loved ones to make donations to The Princess Margaret
in lieu of gifts. They also matched each donation.
Collectively, they raised more than $146,000—an
unprecedented amount in the Foundation’s Wedding
and Anniversary Program.
Kisses for Mom!
C
an you imagine planning your wedding day and
not being sure if your mother would be healthy
enough to share the special day with you? Well,
Jennifer Seeler had to anticipate that possibility.
The wonderful news is that her mother, Brenda, did
indeed attend her daughter’s wedding. In fact, she was
able to dance the night away!
To celebrate her mother and her mother’s recovery
from cancer, Jennifer and her husband, Craig, asked
their wedding guests to make a donation each time
they wanted the couple to kiss. They called it ‘Kisses for
Mom’ and the guests generously donated $550.
