MARANT FOR MANKIND

Ride to Conquer Cancer

Team

Honorary Chair helps

motivate Ride teams to

‘double up’

T

im Hockey is President and CEO of TD

Canada Trust and a huge fan of cycling.

For the past several years he has cycled

over 9,000 km annually. This year he also

volunteered as the Honorary Chair of the

2015

Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer

and

hopes to make the 2015 Ride—the 8

th

annual—the best yet.

Tim generously made a personal donation

to help give the participants in the 2015

Ride some motivation to get started

building up their teams and thinking about

their fundraising. Each of the first 10 teams

to double their team size, was awarded

$5,000 to put towards their fundraising goal.

The first 10 teams to

double up were:

Arch Attack, Team

Autoliv, Paramedics

for a Cure, Team

CIBC, Team Lindsay,

Deloitte Green Dot

Riders, TD Peloton,

CPPIB Domestiques,

Team RBC, and

Doc’s Choice.

“The Ride is an awesome

triumph”

G

ino Vettoretto is the captain of

MARANT for MANKIND

, a team that has

raised over $1.1 million participating

for the past six years in the

Enbridge Ride to

Conquer Cancer

. In 2015, they were a team of

43 riders.

When they aren’t riding for the health of

mankind,

MARANT

is a highly productive

team of almost 50 construction professionals,

including construction managers, site

supervisors, carpenters and labourers.

Gino first participated in the Ride on his own

after a friend was diagnosed with cancer, and

he experienced an “awesome triumph” both

physically and emotionally. Now, with the

help of his co-captain, Carlo Martini, he has

been growing MARANT for MANKIND and

helping all the team members meet their

fundraising goals.

The 5,212 participants in the 2014

Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer

achieved a record $20 million (gross).
