Rozana Papadopoulos and her
husband, Panos Barlias
A new walker who is grateful for every step she takes!
A
cancer diagnosis is always stressful,
but very few cancer patients
receive their diagnosis and begin
their treatment in the way that Rozana
Papadopoulos did. Rozana was suffering from
some bad headaches and an MRI confirmed
a five-centimetre tumour on her brain stem.
She was rushed into emergency surgery which
required six hours. Immediately following the
operation, she could only move her right toe.
But she has fought back, and, thanks to
excellent care at The Princess Margaret and
tremendous support from her husband,
she is walking once again. In October 2014,
Rozana received the welcome news that her
latest MRI showed no sign of cancer.
Rozana shared her story at a media event
held at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
where she amazed everyone in attendance
with her courage.
WHY has Shoppers Drug Mart been a great partner?
C
haritable foundations, including The
Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation,
depend on corporations to lend their
name in support of high-profile fundraising
events. Shoppers Drug Mart has proudly
stepped up as the Title Sponsor of the
Weekend to End Women’s Cancers
and the
2015
OneWalk to Conquer Cancer
in 2015.
They have helped us raise over $150 million
for research into women’s cancers. But that
is just the start of their support.
The company also:
• Puts incredible ambassadors like Nicolas
Caprio, Lisa Gibbs, Robbie Krofchick and
Chris Zaras in charge of building a huge
team of walkers year after year
• Supports travel contests, barbeques, and
garage sales to assist their employees with
their fundraising
• Rallies their major suppliers and encourages
them to participate
• Installs coin boxes and sells bracelets in
their stores to raise funds for the event
• Staffs a relaxation and recharge booth at
camp
